New Batman Animated Series Figures

It has recently been revealed by MTV news that DC Collectibles will be debuting a new wave of figures from Batman: The Animated Series.

This new round of figures will include the original version of Batman from the series, as well as Penguin, The Riddler, and Batgirl. Ranging from 4.5" to 6" in height, the figures will hit shelfs for $24.95 each.

My two cents, we continue to live in the new golden age of comic book heroes, a new line of Batman figures are announced and MTV, yes hip, cool MTV reports it.

Another Action Comics #1 Sells at Auction

As part of their November auction, Heritage Auction House sold another copy of Action Comics #1, the historic first appearance of Superman. This copy was graded CGC GD/VG 3.0, with Cream to off-white pages. 
As we have discussed as part of our "Stories of Action Comics #1", with the increased prices realized through recent auctions more copies of Action Comics #1 are bound to pop up.
Here is a good example, this 3.0 copy sold for $310,700. Lower grades are what most collectors are interested in as they are more affordable then the high grades. Well at least they are now.

Black Lantern Reverse Flash Funko Pop Vinyl Hot Topic Exclusive

Hot Topic has done it again. Yet another Funko Pop Vinyl exclusive. This time it's Reverse Flash as a Black Lantern. 

No release date yet but once we hear we will let the Hunters know.

Action Comics #1 - Batman & Robin #39 pays homage

A lot of space here at Comic Book Hunter & Gatherers has been spent on the first superhero comic book ever made, Action Comics #1. You can read all about our past posts in "Stories of Action Comics #1"

Coming this February, Batman & Robin  #39 will pay homage to this historic cover. The last comic to pay homage was Multiversity #1.

In future posts we will be looking at other comic covers that have honored Action Comics #1.

DC Comics January Variant Covers - Flash Take-Over

If you have spent any time reading Comic Book Hunter & Gatherers then you know that I am a huge Flash fan. A large part of my collection and Wantlist consists of Flash related comics and collectibles. I am currently trying to complete the entire run of Barry Allen's Flash, only 35 to go.

When I heard that DC would be starting off 2015 celebrating The Flashes 75th Anniversay by doing a Flash variant cover month I was excited to say the least. Now that it is almost here I am looking forward to a big hunt for all the variants.
Each of the Flash variant covers are reimagined classic covers from comic history with the Flash inserted. Some such as the Detective Comics and Green Lantern are really great.

 To help other fans I have compiled a list of the Flash variant covers coming in January.

Earliest known Officially Licensed Batmobile up for Auction

This is your chance to own the earliest known officially . The "'63 Batmobile" is the earliest known car in existence that was sanctioned by a DC Comics licensee. It was built in 1963 by Forrest Robinson and Len Pearlman.

This customs made Batmobile was created based on the 1940's comic book version of the iconic car.  It includes the prominent front-end bat-nose and rear-end single fin.

The "63 Batmobile"  started as a 1956 Oldsmobile 88 frame and the famous 324 Rocket engine. The body was replaced by Robinson with his custom-designed body, measuring 17 feet by 83 inches, sporting the Batmobile's iconic dorsal fin, bat-nose front end and pocket sliding doors. 
Initially Robinson had his car masterpiece painted silver but once Batmania hit the country DC comics license leased it for a promotional campaign. It was then reprinted to mirror the iconic Batmobile, along with official Batman labels. The car then toured the United States.

Forrest, who needed cash to start a fabricating business, sold the car for $200. Within a few years, the car lay abandoned in a New Hampshire field and, for almost fifty years, remained a long-forgotten piece of American Pop Culture.

In 2008, the car was discovered by Bobby Smith of Swanzey, NH. A recent buyer did some research and tracked down the two builders of the car, Robinson and Perham. The pair was reunited with their long forgotten masterpiece.

Now you can own this automotive work of art. You can bid on the "63 Batmobile" at Heritage Auction.

This is a very unique piece of comicbook history so if you have the means to purchase it get on that.

The Flash HeroClix Collection

I guess maybe it's because The Flash is celebrating his 75th Anniversary this year or maybe it can be attributed to the new television show, either way heroclix has released a set dedicated to the Scarlet Speedster.

Figures contained within the set span the history of the Flash dating back to Jay Garrick all the way through the New 52 version of the Flash. Set includes allies, enemies, and the Rogues, many making their first Heroclix appearance.
Here at Comic Book Hunter and Gatherers we have produced the only checklist. How do we know it's the only one? Well we looked all over the Internet for one because I am trying to complete the set, the entire set.
