The Justice League Goes Inside the NBA All Star 2015

If you didn't know the NBA All-Star game is less then a month away, February 15th to be exact. Some of you might be saying who cares, it's not like Michael Jordan is playing alongside Bugs Bunny again.
This news might be even better then Space Jam. Turner Sports and DC Entertainment are releasing a free crossover special edition comic titled  "The Justice League Goes Inside the NBA All Star 2015". The comic teams TNT’s Sports Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA studio team , Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal  with The Justice League from DC Comics.

The 16- page limited edition comic is written by one of our favorite writers Brian Buccellato and drawn by Beni Lobel and Tony Shasteen.

It will be available for the first time at comic book stores for free  starting Wednesday, Jan. 21.

About the Issue

In The Justice League Goes Inside the NBA All Star 2015, the NBA on TNT team prepares for a rematch of their big race Johnson, Barkley, Smith and O’Neal are paired with Justice League members Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash to see who can make it from Barclays to Madison Square Garden first. Those plans are thwarted by unexpected occurrences that happen throughout the city in which the teams are forced to work together to save the day.

This issue also features special appearances by TNT commentators Marv Albert, Reggie Miller, Chris Webber and Kristen Ledlow.

So spend your afternoon tomorrow hunting this limited edition comic down.

Wonder Woman #156 - Wonder Woman reads Comics

With yesterday's release of Multiversity #1 which has a central focus on reading comics, I decided to begin looking at other issues that also had characters within the issue actually reading comics. We start off with Wonder Woman #156, released in 1965.

In the issue, written by Robert Kanigher and art by Ross Andru, Wonder Woman reads a Golden Age comic book story which portrays one of her old adventures, in which she battled the Brain Pirate. The story also mentions how comic books have become high value collectibles. 

This unique issue can be found for less then a hundred dollars. A CGC graded 9.0 or better is valued at around $300. This is is a great addition to any collection,Wonder Woman actually reading her own comic.

Some tips on how to get these variants, first ask your local comic shop to hold the one you want for you. Remember these come in much smaller quantities then the regular covers, usually 1 for 25. If you cant get it their check at other local shops. There is one near me in New Jersey that gets tons of variants each month.  If that doesn't work there is always online.
I will be trying to grab the Flash and Green Lantern Corps, like that Black Lantern reference.

DC Lego Variant Covers - Hitting Shelves in November

Dc will continue its use of variant themed covers this coming November, following on the heals of the Octobers Halloween/Horror Variant Covers.

The Lego theme is being used to celebrate the LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham video game being released in November. The Lego renditions on each cover mirror the covers from each issues #0 which were released in September 2012, I have included an image of Batman #0 for comparison.

Wildcat on Arrow - Who is he?

On Saturday at SDCC it was announced that next season on, everyone's  favorite archer show, Arrow, Justice Society of America member Wildcat would be making an appearance. J.R. Ramirez will play Ted Grant.

About Wildcat
In the comics along with being a member of the Justice Society of America, which consists of other Golden Age, Wildcat is also a former boxer and has trained other heroes such as The Black Canary.

First Appearance
Wildcat made his first appearance in Sensation Comics #1 dated January 1942. Sensation Comics was an anthology comic book, Wildcats story was titled "The Origin of Wildcat", written by Bill Finger with art by Irwin Hasan. In the story Ted Grant a boxer kills the former champion during a boxing match, inspired by the Green Lantern, Grant decides to become Wildcat to clear his name.
This issue is very rare and valuable because it is also Wonder Woman's second appearance, a CGC 7.0 sold for over $12,000 while a 1.8 sold for $3,300.

So why should you even attempt to hunt this comic down, one it is a classic rare Golden Age comic with the second appearance Wonder Woman and two, Wildcat is a really cool character.

On Arrow
The character will be played by J.R. Ramirez and like the comic version he will be a former boxer. from comic con it eas also noted that he would run a gym for underpriveleged children and play a key role in a Laurel Lance's story this season.

San Diego Comic Con Exclusives - Monogram International

I really should start titling these post, "Why SDCC exclusives kill my wallet each year?" Monogram International has a bunch of exclusives for SDCC.

If you recall we reported a couple of days ago that Action Figure Express would have a Flashpoint paperweight exclusive at SDCC, turns out they are releasing it in conjunction with Monogram International.

Monogram international is also releasing an additional 4-piece DC heroes paperweight set. This one will include Superman, Batman (different then Flashpoint one), Wonder woman and the Joker. Priced at $100, it will also be limited to 1,000 pieces. Each bust measures 5.25 inches tall. You can walk away from SDCC with 6 DC Universe busts- Awesome!

Monogram international will also have a tree piece Incredible Hulk vinyl bank set, the set includes Green, Grey and Red versions of the Hulk. It is limited to only 200 pieces and can be picked up at booth #3645. Who doesn't want a RULK bank in their collection?


I can pretty much guarantee that there will be more exclusives news in the next couple of days. Time to take out a loan or sell a kidney. Anyone know what I can get for a slightly used kidney these days?
