Hal Jordan - The Impossible Justice League Unlimited Figure

I am a big fan of the Justice League Unlimited line of action figures, I collect them with my youngest daughter. Our goal is to get each figure that was produced.  Some figures will be much harder to find then others.
Recently we did a post about the unproduced Aquaman figure. The Aquaman figure was not officially produced, it was supposed to be  but never made it to production. Some samples are believed to exist. The rarest of the produced figures is without a doubt, the Hal Jordan Green Lantern Figure.

The story goes Mattel did not have the rights to produce Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, in the JLU cartoon John Stewart was GL, so collectors would never see Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. Here is where the aha comes in. Mattel did produce a Green Lantern Hal Jordan limited to only 100.

 Mattel had this figure made as a Christmas "Thank You" to the staff at Warner Brothers Animation, DC Comics and Mattel that has worked so hard on the JLU and DC properties all year. Each figure was signed by JLU co-creator and Producer Bruce Timm. The figure is even packaged on a unique holiday-themed card designed exclusively for this figure.

Some tips on how to get these variants, first ask your local comic shop to hold the one you want for you. Remember these come in much smaller quantities then the regular covers, usually 1 for 25. If you cant get it their check at other local shops. There is one near me in New Jersey that gets tons of variants each month.  If that doesn't work there is always online.
I will be trying to grab the Flash and Green Lantern Corps, like that Black Lantern reference.

General Wade Eiling to appear on New Flash TV series

With each passing day anticipation for the new Flash television series grows as new characters and possible story lines are announced. We want to help you prepare for the show so we will be looking at the background of each character set to appear, we have already reviewed Plastique and Vibe. Today we look at General Wade Eiling and we can guess wether he will be based on the comic version or the Justice League Unlimited version.

General Wade Eiling first appeared in Captain Atom #1 (1987), he was created by Cary Bates, Pat Broderick and Greg Weisman. You can pick up a nice copy for less than $5.00. General Eiling appears throughout the Captain Atom series, so why not start buying all 57 issues.

First Appearance

Wade Eiling works for the military. He blackmails Nathaniel Adam into participating in an atomic experiment that turns Nathaniel into the nuclear being Captain Atom. Shortly after the experiment Captain Atom disappears for 18 years. As a result of his disappearance General Eiling would attempt the experiment again, which ends up with the creation of Major Force, which occurs later Inte Captain Atom series.

About General Wade Eiling

For a large part General Wade Eiling is the main adversary of Captain Atom, he appears throughout the series which begins afte he creates Captain Atom who disappears for 18 years. During the 18 years in which Captain Atom is gone, Eiling marries Adam's wife and acts as father to his two children. Eiling also manipulates Captain Atom into serving the military.

Eiling also battles the Justice League of America during which time he transfers his brain patterns into the indestructible body of the Shaggy Man.

On the Flash Series
General Eiling will be played by veteran actor Clancy Brown. Many comic book fans may remember Brown as the vioce of Lex Luthor for over twelve years. He has also voiced many other comic book characters including Parrallax in the Green Lantern Movie.
On the Flash TV show it appears that General Iling will resemble the version of the character that has appeared on Justice League Unlimited (see below)

Justice League Unlimited In the Justice League Unlimited cartoon series, which we are big fans of, a significantly altered version of General Wade Eiling that resembled Marvel character General 'Thunderbolt' Ross. In the series he works very closely with Cadmus Chief Amanda Waller.
General Eiling also had an action figure made from the series. You should all know by now that we collect these, check out the entire Justice League Unlimited Checklist.

Vibe on New Flash TV Series

No it's not the feeling everyone is showing in anticipation of the new series it is an actual character that will appear on the show. Vibe, whose real name is Paco Ramon has already made a guest appearance on Arrow.
 So like we did with Plastique previously, we will take a look at Vibes history in comics and other media so you can go out and hunt down some of his appearances.

Vibe was created by Gene Conway and Chuck Patton, he made his first appearance in Justice League of America Annual #2  which was released in October 1984. I recently picked up a copy in a dollar bin at a local comic convention, well worth it.

First Appearance

Paco Ramon's career as the superhero Vibe began shortly after the original Justice League of America was  disbanded by Aquaman. When Paco heard that a new Justice League was being formed in his own hometown of Detroit, he decided to give up his position as the leader of a local street gang, Los Lobos, to join up. Vibe made the team as a result of his metahuman ability to emit powerful vibratory shock waves.

About Vibe
Vibe placement on the new Justice was put into question early on when his actions resulted in the league fighting a street gang. He would prove himself valuable during many battles including defeating Despero during the Crisis of Infinite Earths.  Vibe was killed after an attack by Professor Ivo's androids during the Legends story-line. The  Martian Manhunter brought Vibe's body back to the League's mountain sanctuary, where Vibe was laid to rest in a cryogenic chamber. However, Paco's dead form was resurrected as a member of the Black Lantern Corps.

Vibe was brought back to life as part of the New 52 and again was a member of the Justice League.

Vibe also made a number of appearances on the Justice League Unlimited cartoon and was part of the toy line. If you have read any of our older posts you know how much we like the JLU line, we have been hunting for a Vibe figure.

So now that you know about Vibe go out and pick up JLA Annual #2 and the 10 issues of his solo comic, which came out in 2013. What are you waiting for?

Englishtown Flea Market - On the Hunt in New Jersey

As our loyal readers will remember we often go comic book and collectible hunting at Flea Markets.  Many flea markets have vendors that sell comics and collectibles, you can often get great deals at flea markets on them.

Earlier today we visited Englishtown Flea Market in New Jersey. It was a rainy day so it was empty which was good but not all the outside area vendors showed up, not so good.

We did find one comic book dealer in side, where we made some awesome finds. For only $12.00 we purchased 9 comics.

Of the 9 comics 5 of the were issues of Jack Kirby's The Demon series from the early 1970's. I have always been a big fan of Jack Kirby, not only is he one of our favorite artist of all-time but he is also one of the most influential artists/writers in comic history. The fact that we only paid .50 an issue for a total of $2.50 for 5 of his comics is a huge score in my book.

The successful hunt at Englishtown doesn't stop there, we also picked up Kirby's Omac One Man Army #2 for .75 and His Mister Miracle #2 for $2. Mister Miracle happens to be one of my favorite character and I have been looking for the Kirby issues for sometime.

To road out the comic portion of our hunt we also purchased a Copy of The Champions #1 and DC Wanted #8, which includes a Flash story. We picked up The Champions #1 because we really enjoy the 1970's Marvel titles.

Along with the comics we also found a Justice League Unlimited Blue Devil figure on card for $5.00, we always look for JLU figures. One vendor even had the impossible to find Volcana Figure in the 3-Pack.

While we were walking around we came across this little mixed-up number. Yes Spider-Man with Batman with Buzz Lightyear and more. This is a What the? item.

So based on everything we purchased or saw we will certainly be going back to Englishtown and if your looking for some great deals we recommend you go hunting there as well.

Comic Shop Review - Famous Faces and Funnies, Melbourne FL

We will be looking at some comic book shops we recently visited in Florida, starting with Famous Faces and Funnies Comics and Toys. Located in Melbourne Florida the store is large, both in space and inventory.

One of the things I liked most about FFF is they carry a lot of older toys. If you have visited most any comic shop lately older toys do not hold any shelf space. FFF is not the norm. I picked up a Justice League Unlimited 3-pack for $12. They also had a bunch of old Star Wars and Star Trek toys. Plus many new Toys from Marvel, DC and of course Walking Dead.

FFF also had a large selection on Funko POP Vinyl figures. All the different lines Funko is currently putting out are here: DC, Marvel, Disney, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, movies, TV and cartoons. A great place to find that one Pop! Vinyl you missed. I picked up a Darkseid I have been searching for,two cons and three shops.

If your looking for back issues and current issues FFF has these to. Many boxes of back issues in title order reasonable priced. Got a New Mutants #100 for $2.

How was the hunt? A genuinely good place to hunt old toys and ack issues. We found a couple of toys and comics we were looking for. The Pop! Vinyl Darkseid was a big find as was the Justice League Unlimited 3-pack (Superman, Amazo and Star Man).

It is worth a visit if you are hunting anything old or new.

Finally I am not sure why everyone doesn't have a stuffed Mr. Mxyzptlk in their collection. Go out and get one right now. It's worth the $12. Just don't say his name backwards because he will disappear.
