Purple Man appearing on A.K.A. Jessica Jones
In one of our recent posts we started our discussion regarding Marvel Comics Netflix series with a look at A.K.A Jessica Jones. In this post we will look at the shows main villain Purple Man.
Purple Man will be played by former Doctor Who, David Tennant. Who happens to be one of my favorite actors and we can't wait to see him as a bad guy.
First Appearance
Created by Stan Lee and Joe Orlando, the Purple Man made his first appearance in Daredevil #4, released in October 1964. This early issue of the Man without Fear will cost you about $3,000, CGC 9.0 plus. An ungraded copy will cost you about $100.
Daredevil battles Purple Man on the streets while Matt Murdock battles Zebediah Killgrave in the courtroom.
About the Purple Man
Dr. Zebediah Killgrave was born in Yugoslavia. Originally a physician, Killgrave turned into a spy where he was sent on a mission to infiltrate a chemical refinery. On this mission, he was accidentally doused with a chemical that turned his hair and skin purple. He soon realized that the nerve gas had also given him the superhuman ability to command the wills of other people. Calling himself the Purple Man, Killgrave embarked on a criminal career.
At some point during Jessica Jones career as the superhero Jewel, the Purple Man forced her to do some terrible things using his ability to command others.
On A.K.A. Jessica Jones
Little is known at this time what storyline will be portrayed in the Netflix series but with David Tennant playing the role it is sure to be fantastic.
We also hope he appears on the new Daredevil series.

Iceman Marvels Secret Wars Rarest Figure
Since Marvel and Gentle Giant have decided to release a 12 inch scale retro version of the famous Secret Wars line of figures, read about it here, we decided to look at the rarest figure from the original line.
Iceman is the rarest action figure in the Marvel Secret Wars toy line. The figure was not sold in the United States. Iceman came from Europe and was not a part of the Secret Wars comics series from Marvel. At the time of Secret Wars Iceman has his own limited series run by Marvel, so this may explain why he was included in the action figure series.
The figure was a repaint of the Daredevil figure with Captain America's legs. Iceman is all one color, kind of greenish with a black belt. He comes with the standard Secret Wars shield.
The figure sells for more then most Secret Wars figures a AKA graded 8.0 is on eBay for $420.
I have never seen on except on -line.

Marvel Retro Secret Wars Figures coming soon
It seems fitting that Marvel comics would release Secret Wars figures this year, it being 30 years after the original series and figures hit the shelfs. Yes back in 1985 Secret Wars was the big thing.
If you don't know what Secret Wars was don't worry, we have you covered. Secret Wars 12 issue mini-series tat was also included cross-overs into most Marvel titles. It also introduced comic fans to the Beyonder. The Beyonder took some of Earths Heroes and its worst villians to an alien planet to study them, and watch them fight each other, truly fun stuff.
Marvel is releasing a new 12 issue mini-series titles Secret Wars again this year. It just makes sense that the toy line would follow with Gentle Giant being the first one to release figures. Gentle Giant creatung these figures based directly from these old figures. They've digitally scanned the original Secret Wars figures and reproduced them in a larger, 12-inch scale. Resealable containers will recreate the old Secret Wars packaging.
So far four figures are scheduled for release, Black Costume Spider-Man, Hobgoblin, Wolverine, and Magneto. It is important to note that the original Secret Wars Wolverine figure was the first one of the character ever released.
You can Pre-order the Spider-man figure for a cool $90. Keep an eye out for the others.
We will continue to provide news on the new Secret Wars line and comics throughout the year.
