DC Scribblenauts Series 5

The Scribblenauts continue with series 5. It continues to amaze at the number of  DC characters that are being included in the figure series. Series 5 is no different,  the World's Greatest Superheroes and Villains in Scribblenauts style. 

Series 4 contains  8 different 2 1/4-inch tall mini-figures (some rarer than others), including Swamp Thing, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, John Stewart Green Lantern, Alloy, Gold Flash and more! 

Fans should be happy that Swamp Things is getting some love. His title is being canceled in April, his last figure which was supposed to be in the Medicom Line was canceled. He was also supposed to be in series 4 of Scribblenauts but got pushed back to series 5, fingers crossed.

Hal Jordan - The Impossible Justice League Unlimited Figure

I am a big fan of the Justice League Unlimited line of action figures, I collect them with my youngest daughter. Our goal is to get each figure that was produced.  Some figures will be much harder to find then others.
Recently we did a post about the unproduced Aquaman figure. The Aquaman figure was not officially produced, it was supposed to be  but never made it to production. Some samples are believed to exist. The rarest of the produced figures is without a doubt, the Hal Jordan Green Lantern Figure.

The story goes Mattel did not have the rights to produce Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, in the JLU cartoon John Stewart was GL, so collectors would never see Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. Here is where the aha comes in. Mattel did produce a Green Lantern Hal Jordan limited to only 100.

 Mattel had this figure made as a Christmas "Thank You" to the staff at Warner Brothers Animation, DC Comics and Mattel that has worked so hard on the JLU and DC properties all year. Each figure was signed by JLU co-creator and Producer Bruce Timm. The figure is even packaged on a unique holiday-themed card designed exclusively for this figure.

Some tips on how to get these variants, first ask your local comic shop to hold the one you want for you. Remember these come in much smaller quantities then the regular covers, usually 1 for 25. If you cant get it their check at other local shops. There is one near me in New Jersey that gets tons of variants each month.  If that doesn't work there is always online.
I will be trying to grab the Flash and Green Lantern Corps, like that Black Lantern reference.

DC Lego Variant Covers - Hitting Shelves in November

Dc will continue its use of variant themed covers this coming November, following on the heals of the Octobers Halloween/Horror Variant Covers.

The Lego theme is being used to celebrate the LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham video game being released in November. The Lego renditions on each cover mirror the covers from each issues #0 which were released in September 2012, I have included an image of Batman #0 for comparison.

I also hope they make some Lego figures to go along with the covers.  Who doesn't want a Frankenstein Lego figure in their collection?

Green Lantern Custom Leather Vest

Spotted this gem at Wizard World Philadelphia. It was all custom made leather cost was about $300.
Actually looks like something Guy Gardner would wear.

Wednesday Whacked Comic Cover - Green Lantern #30

This week our Wednesday Whacked comic cover comes from one of DC's monthly themed variant covers. Each month DC selects a central theme for various titles within their New 52 line. Back in April of this year the theme was Mad magazine.
All the covers in April featured the heros reimagined as Mad character Alfred E. Newman. These covers have become highly sought after regardless of how Whacky they are.

Chose the Green Lantern cover as it was by far the Whackist. You can see why just by looking at it.
Well done DC, well done.

So get on out if bed and when you go buy your new issues this week look for te Mad magazine variants.

Be@rbricks have become very popular over the last couple of year and are awesome collectibles. They have released 3 different Batmans, Robin, Superman, Plastic Man, Cyborg Riddler and an actually Green Lantern lantern. I like that they use the old Super Powers cards and images.

Hunting on the web is a modern day method of hunting. It is much easier then actually going somewhere to hunt things down, but very effective.
