Captain Ray and Abominable Snowman Super Amigos Action Figures

So we said good-bye to 2014 and we are welcoming in 2015. So we are going to begin the New Year the way we ended the old year, with a review of a rare Super Powers or Super Amigos action figure. We ended the year with a look at The Riddler.
We are starting the year with a look at the weirdest two figures Captain Ray and his arch-enemy The Hulk, wait I meant the Abominable Snowman.
Okay so like me you are probably thinking who the hell is Captain Ray and why is he fighting the Abominable Hulk, damn Snowman.

Captain Ray 
Captain Ray has never appeared in a Comic book and there is absolutely no history or background known about him. We also don't know what his powers are. 

The Captain Ray figure is not like any other in the line, Captain Ray's card says "Super Heroes" instead of Super Powers. The artwork on the Captain Ray card and the actual figure itself appear to be based on Superman. He wears a black/grey and yellow costume with Flash type lightning bolt symbol on his chest. He has medium brown hair.

Okay the Super Amigos Riddler was strange, a re-painted Green Lantern but the Captain Ray (or El Capitan Rayo, in his native language) is an exclusive figure to the knock-off Columbian line. 

Abominable Snowman

An Abominable Snowman action figure or  Hombre de las Nieves', literally "The Man of the Snows" was produced by Gulliver Juguetes, a Latin-American toy company located in Brazil for their Super Heroes Collection, part of their Super Powers Collection line. This line did not have direct ties to any DC Comic characters. Abominable Snowman was the enemy of Captain Rey. The figure was available in Colombia only.

The Abominable Snowman is considered the  rarest of the Super Powers/Super Amigos/Super Heroes Collection branded figures. This figure combines pieces from the two previous South American knock-offs, and even a different companies products altogether, the Hulk.  The card art appears to be the same as Captain Rey, even down to the same company logo, Gulliver Juguetes, but the art is on the wrong side, is the wrong size, and Captain Ray symbol has changed. The logo does says Super Heroes. 
The strangest thing about the Abominable Snowman figure is that is an actual recast of the Hulk action figure from the Mego Pocket Pals line. To complicate matters even more the card backer has a mixture of Marvel and DC characters.

So there you have it the two rarest and strangest figures in the Super Powers line. Okay so yes it really sounds like they are knock-offs not real figures from the line but its a new year just go with it. I don't plan on searching either of these figures out but if I see one I'll let you guys know.

Unique Batman Item Sold ay Auction - RARE LONE STAR GUN & HOLSTER SET ON CARD

If you spend anytime hunting through the auction sites sooner or later you'll come across a truly rare, unique collectible. In a recent Hakes auction a rare Batman gun was on the block.

The gun comes on a 9x14" illustrated card which features a full body image of Batman w/this gun in hand. There is also a smaller image of what appears to be Robin on the card. We say appears to be because the uniform isn't one Robin has ever worn. On the card is a set guns made in England by Lone Star, the copyright is 1966.
The gun is a 7.25" long plastic cap-firing gun that looks like a futuristic ray gun and features bat attachments on grips and separate plastic sight w/front sight being small bat attached at tip of barrel. There is also a 7.75" long vinyl-covered leather holster which comes w/original vinyl belt and metal buckle. Holster has "Batman" name in gold lettering and odd batsymbol design. 

I have never seen one of these before, it sold for a whooping  $5,692.50.  Yes wow is the word you are looking for.

Freddy Funko SDCC Deadpool Exclusives

Freddy Funko Deadpool Grey Variant limited to 24

If you collect Funko Pop Vinyl! Figures you may or may not be aware that Funko has a mascot that they often use for Convention exclusives. Freddy Funko has appeared as many different heros, including Batman, Superman and Ghist Rider. Most of these Freddy variants are very rare and sell for extremely high prices. Search eBay for Freddy Funko and you will be shocked.

This past year at San Diego Comic Con Funko had limited edition Freddy Funko as Deadpool. Two of these figures were limited to 24 pieces and are currently selling on eBay for over $1,000. Yes one thousand dollars for a Pop Vinyl figure. I collect Pop Vinyl and suprise there are no Freddy Funko version, one day I will hunt one down for a reasonable price.

Hal Jordan - The Impossible Justice League Unlimited Figure

I am a big fan of the Justice League Unlimited line of action figures, I collect them with my youngest daughter. Our goal is to get each figure that was produced.  Some figures will be much harder to find then others.
Recently we did a post about the unproduced Aquaman figure. The Aquaman figure was not officially produced, it was supposed to be  but never made it to production. Some samples are believed to exist. The rarest of the produced figures is without a doubt, the Hal Jordan Green Lantern Figure.

The story goes Mattel did not have the rights to produce Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, in the JLU cartoon John Stewart was GL, so collectors would never see Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. Here is where the aha comes in. Mattel did produce a Green Lantern Hal Jordan limited to only 100.

 Mattel had this figure made as a Christmas "Thank You" to the staff at Warner Brothers Animation, DC Comics and Mattel that has worked so hard on the JLU and DC properties all year. Each figure was signed by JLU co-creator and Producer Bruce Timm. The figure is even packaged on a unique holiday-themed card designed exclusively for this figure.
