Funko ReAction Flash and Arrow TV Series Action Figures

The last two days we have been reporting on all the comic book related toys coming out of Toy Fair in New York City. We have looked at DC Icon Figures and Guardians of the Galaxy Dorbz. I am certain we will be looking at more stuff as the fair continues, including many items from Funko.

The Funko ReAction line continues to grow reaching into iconic television and movie series. Yesterday Funko revealed their Flash and Arrow TV series figures.


The Arrow line-up will include two different Arrow figures, a Deathstroke, a Black Canary, Diggle, Arrow and a Dark Arrow Merlyn.

Flash line will start with the Flash and what looks like Captain Cold.

Two things come to mind as we continue to look at Toy Fair news, first how am I going to afford all the great stuff and second where am I going to put it all.

Toy Fair starts today, collectibles a plenty

Yes it is Valentines Day today, so hung the ones you love then start following all the news coming out of Toy Fair 2015.

The first thing I saw tat caught my eye says that Funko is listening. They are releasing a line of Pop! Vinyl figures based on The Flash Television series. The first two will be The Flash and Captain Cold.
What is so great about this release is it the first time a Rogue will appear as a Pop!Vinyl, yes FINALLY! Hopefully there will be plenty more figures from the show.

These two are due out in May.

Hey your wallet might be a little bit lighter but your collection will be that much nicer!

Peek-a-boo appears on Flash TV series

On the February 4th episode of The Flash episode "Crazy for you" the main villain was Peek-a-boo. It is interesting to see one of the Rogues from Wally Wests time as the Flash and continues our hope that he does appear on the show at some point. Enough about Wally this post is about Peek-a-boo. Created by Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins, Peek-a-boo made her first appearance in The Flash Vol.2 #180. A copy of this issue can be found for a couple of dollars. If you have not read the Wally West run of the Flash it is highly recommended reading for any Flash TV series fan.

About Peek-a-boo

Lashawn Baez was a graduate student at Central City Medical School. When her father Tomas Baez became ill she stopped her studies to take care of him. First she tried to donate her kidney but instead the operation activated her metagene, thus giving her the ability to teleport. Lashawn decided if she could not donate her kidney she would use her powers to find a matching donor for her father. Her attempted theft of a suitable kidney leads to her battling the Flash and his friend Cyborg. 

Along with her first apperance in The Flash Vol.2 #180, Peek-a-boo also appears in issues 183, 192, 195 & 196.

On the Flash TV Series

Britne Oldford played the role of Peek-a-boo in the episode "Crazy for You". she uses her teleportation powers to free her boyfriend from Iron Heights prison then along with him robs an armored car.

You can pick up every appearance of Peek-a-boo for about $10, while your at it start reading Flash Vol.2 the Wally West run. You will not regret it.

The Mist on the Flash TV Series

If I wanted to I believe I could dedicate an entire blog to the ever expanding Flash TV universe. So many characters have been introduced in this first season that it is taking me some time just to keep up. Case in point, The Mist who appeared earlier this season on the episode "Things You Can't Outrun." You can view all the other characters in ourFlash Character Guide.

Created by Gardner Fox and James Robinson, the Mist made his first apperance in Adventure Comics #67 where he battled Starman in the story "The menace of the invisible raiders." This issue which is rare sells for around $3500.


About the Mist
The orinal Mist's name was Kyle Nimbus. He was a Canadian Army Captain who fought in World War 1. Nimbus was also a scientist. He created a device that turned his body into a gaseous form. He became a supervillain, a fought both the Golden Age Sandman and the Golden Age Starman. He also battled the modern day Starman. The Mist had two children, Nash and Kyle.

On the Flash TV Show
Portrayed by Anthony Carrigan, Kyle Nimbus/The Mist was a mob hit-man, who was charged with murder and placed on death row.  As he was being executed via the gas chamber the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator exploded, giving him his elemental abilities. He then goes on a killing spree to exact revenge on those that put him in prison,  the last attempt was on Joe West, his arresting officer. The Flash defeats The Mist after keeping him in his gas state for an overextended amount of time, weakening him to the point of unconsciousness. The Mist is then locked away in thr metahuman prison.

It is really noise to see the writers of the Flash using both old and new villians in the series. Hopefully we will see the Golden Age Flash at some point.

So if you are continuing to build your Flash first appearance collection this one is both difficult to find and costly so good luck.

Pied Piper on the Flash

The Flash #106

The Flash television series continues to introduce the Rogues, in this weeks episode the Flash with battle the Pied Piper. I have a feeling season 2 of the series will see all the Rogues join forces. You can read all about the other Rogues in our Flash Characters Guide

Created in 1963 by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, The Pied Piper made his first appearance in The Flash #106.  This issue is can be found in a CGC high grade for around $5,000. Lower ungraded for about $300. This issue also features the first appearance of Gorilla Grodd and Solivar.

First Appearance
The Pied Piper made his first apperance in The Flash #106 in a story titled " The Pied Piper of Peril".   Throughout Central City a number unsolved crimes occur. Finally the Pied Piper reveals himself and challenges the Flash
When the Flash arrives at one of the crime scenes, he finds Piper. Piper creates a vibratory aura with his flute, freezing the Flash in his tracks. Piper exclaims they have thirty minutes before the Flash will be released as they take off with stolen goods. The Flash vibrates his body and frees himself moments later. Flash catches up with Piper and takes him to jail. 

About the Pied Piper
Hartley Rathaway (alias Thomas Peterson) was born deaf, but he would eventually be cured thanks to research funded by his wealthy father and the work of Doctor Will Magnus. After being cured Rathaway became obsessed with sound and experimented with sonic technology. Rathaway would invent a technique of hypnotism using music and also a way to cause deadly vibrations. He soon turned to a life if crime, often battling the Flash. 

On the Flash

Andy Mientus will play the Pied Piper Hartley Rathaway in the episode "The Sound and the Fury". While working for Dr. Wells, He lost his hearing as a result of the accident with particle accelerator . He develops sonicwave weaponry in order to exact revenge on Wells by targeting The Flash.

Pied Piper also appeared in an episode of the 1970's television series Wonder Woman. In the episode, a villain by the name of "Hamlin Rule" used a flute to hypnotize and persuade women to do his bidding. He was played by Martin Mull.

Enjoy the Flash this week, but before you do search out some Pied Piper appearances. Spoiler, he actually becomes a hero when Wally West takes over the Flash mantel.

Rainbow Raider on the Flash TV Series

Back in August I wrote also about one of DC's strangest villains Rainbow Raider, in it I wrote how I hoped that the character would appear on the Flash TV series. Well my wish came through, Roy G. Bivolo did appear on the show even if they didn't call him the Rainbow Raider, I'll take it as a win.

Here is a recap about who the Rainbow Raider is and why he should be a full fledged Rogue.

Created in 1957 by Cary Bates and Don Heck, Rainbow Raider made his first appearance in The Flash #286.  This issue is can be found for about $5. It is worth a look.

First Appearance
Roy G. Bivolo was a wonderful painter from an early age but he was also color-blind. His father could not except this for his son, so the famous optometrist created a device that would allow his son to see in full color. Upon the death of his father the device was given to Roy but it did not correct his color-blindness. These vision goggles did do was some other things like project beams of light that could become solid objects, make him invisible, blind his opponents, or affect the emotions of his opponents. Roy could no longer follow his career as an artist so  he chose a life of crime instead. He became the Rainbow Raider and joined Flash's Rogues Gallery.

On the Flash TV Series
Played by Paul Anthony Roy G. Bivol appeared in the Flash Vs. Arrow Episode of the Flash Series. He had the meta human power to control people's emotions. Sadly he did not wear the Rainbow Costum and he is called Prism instead of Rainbow Raider, true fans know who he was.

Rainbow Raider was produced as a figure for the first time in the Flash heroclix line.

Linda Park on new Flash TV Series

First I am a huge Flash fan , the character is the focal point of my comic book collecting, hunting, gathering and everything in between. Second I have not been closely following the news of the new Flash TV series because I felt all the show was so far away, now that summer is almost over and Fall is nearly here I started watching some of the promos.  I caught the recent Weather Wizard one and was very happy to see Linda Park as a news reporter.

You might ask why was I happy to see Linda Park as opposed to the Weather Wizard or any of the other characters. Answer is simple, one of favorite runs of The Flash was when Wally West took over for Barry Allen and he developed, over time, a romantic connection with Linda Park. To me it was the essence of what made the series great. I wouldn't give to much away to those that haven't read them yet. If you haven't get out there and pick up volume 2 of the Flash series ASAP.

Okay so more about Linda Park as this is why you are here, is it not?

Linda Park made her first appearance in The Flash Volume 2 #28, she was created by William Messner-Loebs. You Canuck up her first appearance for around a dollar. The Wally West Flash series is worth taking a look at, it ran longer then any other Flash series.

About Linda Park
Linda Park was a reporter for Keystone City she regularly cover the Flash and at first really didn't like Wally West. As time went on the two fell in love, were married and had twins.

On Flash TV Series
Linda Park briefly appeared in  the second season Arrow episode "Three Ghost," played by Olivia Cheng. The episode also features Barry Allen rather than Wally West. She is shown on television reporting on the particle accelerator that will ultimately give rise to Barry's fateful lab accident.

So In the comics Linda Park is Wally West wife and mother of his children, hopefully her appearing on the new Flash series means that at some point we will see WallyWest, fingers crossed.

You have a little more then a month before the series starts get out and pick up some Flash comics and keep your eyes out for all the collectibles that will be hitting store shelfs.

The Clock King on the Flash

We continue our look at the characters set to appear on the first season of the Flash, see the rest on our Flash TV Series Character Guide page.

The Clock King who already made a guest appearance on Arrow made his first comic book appearance in World Finest Comics #111 which hit newsstands in August 1960. He was created by Lee Elias and France Herron. This issue of World Finest is valued at around $200.


First Appearance
William Tockman, The Clock King, battled Green Arrow and Speedy in his first appearance. The story titled " The Crimes of the Clock King" is about the Clock King being successful in a series of crimes, besting Green Arrow and Speedy, until he traps them in his headquarters, where the archers escape his trap and capture The Clock King.

About the Clock King

Born William Tockman, Clock King spends his early years taking care of his invalid sister until he finds out he himself has only six monts tomlive. Hebdecides that before he dies he is going to,provide for his sister. usingnthe correct timing he robs a local bank but is caught by the Green Arrow. 

While in prison his sister succumbs to her illness and Tockman finds out he is not terminally ill. Angered by all this he seeks revenge on Green Arrow.

As the Clock King, Tockman becomes a member of the Injustice League. A team of SuperVillians that are defeated time and again by the Justice League. Clock King later joins the Suicide Squad.

On the Flash Series
Robert Knepper will reprise his role from Arrow. Best know for his role on Prison Break, Knepper joins former PB co-star Wentworth Miller who will be playing Captain Cold.

You can continue to build your Flash TV series collection by picking up a copy of World Finest #111, along with the various other first appearance and don't forget to watch the Flash.

Captain Cold on the Flash TV Series

The leader of the Flashes rogues gallery will be appearing on the new television series.  DC continues to take characters directly from the comic pages to appear in the show, much as they did on Arrow the last two seasons. Including Captain Cold will hopefully open the door for more of the Rogues, fingers crossed for the Rainbow Raider.

We have already looked at three characters set to appear alongside the Flash, The General, Plastique, and Vibe. Here is a look Captain Cold to help you prepare for the series premier.

Created in 1957 by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, Captain Cold made his first appearance in Showcase #8.  This issue is can be found in a CGC high grade for around $5,000. Lower ungraded for about $1,000. This is considered a key Silver Age issue as not only is it the first appearance of Captain Cold but it is also the second appearance of the Silver Age Flash.

First Appearance

The story in which Captain Cold first appeared was titled The Coldest Man On Earth! Captain Cold initially defeats the Flash. The Flash returns and begins to circle Captain Cold at super speed, Cold can not zone in on the scarlet speedster, but the whirlwind knocks him out. He is quickly take to prison.

Prior to choosing Captain Cold, Leonard Snart thinks about using a number of other names include Mr. Arctic, The Cold Wave, Sub-Zero, and Human Icicle. 

About Captain Cold
Leonard Snart was a small time crook who work with a small gang of thieves, after they are easily defeated by the Flash Snart reads an article that theorized that the energy emissions of a cyclotron could interfere with the Flash's speed. He designed a weapon to harness that power and broke into a cyclotron lab, puts on a parka and visor, then takes the name Captain Cold. Cold has been the leader of the Flashes Rogues and a member of the Secret Society of SuperVillians.

On the Flash TV Series

Captain Cold will be played by Wentworth Miller on the new series. Wentworth is best know for his role in the hit show Prison Break. 

Captain Cold also was a member of the Legion of Doom on the greatest superhero cartoon ever, ABC's Challenge of the Super Friends. 

Over the years Captain Cold has appeared in many issues of the Flash, as well as other, DC comics. Keep an eye out while your searching through bins for his many appearances. If you can find a copy of Showcase #8 for a Goodrich buy it, worth having this classic issue in your collection.

General Wade Eiling to appear on New Flash TV series

With each passing day anticipation for the new Flash television series grows as new characters and possible story lines are announced. We want to help you prepare for the show so we will be looking at the background of each character set to appear, we have already reviewed Plastique and Vibe. Today we look at General Wade Eiling and we can guess wether he will be based on the comic version or the Justice League Unlimited version.

General Wade Eiling first appeared in Captain Atom #1 (1987), he was created by Cary Bates, Pat Broderick and Greg Weisman. You can pick up a nice copy for less than $5.00. General Eiling appears throughout the Captain Atom series, so why not start buying all 57 issues.

First Appearance

Wade Eiling works for the military. He blackmails Nathaniel Adam into participating in an atomic experiment that turns Nathaniel into the nuclear being Captain Atom. Shortly after the experiment Captain Atom disappears for 18 years. As a result of his disappearance General Eiling would attempt the experiment again, which ends up with the creation of Major Force, which occurs later Inte Captain Atom series.

About General Wade Eiling

For a large part General Wade Eiling is the main adversary of Captain Atom, he appears throughout the series which begins afte he creates Captain Atom who disappears for 18 years. During the 18 years in which Captain Atom is gone, Eiling marries Adam's wife and acts as father to his two children. Eiling also manipulates Captain Atom into serving the military.

Eiling also battles the Justice League of America during which time he transfers his brain patterns into the indestructible body of the Shaggy Man.

On the Flash Series
General Eiling will be played by veteran actor Clancy Brown. Many comic book fans may remember Brown as the vioce of Lex Luthor for over twelve years. He has also voiced many other comic book characters including Parrallax in the Green Lantern Movie.
On the Flash TV show it appears that General Iling will resemble the version of the character that has appeared on Justice League Unlimited (see below)

Justice League Unlimited In the Justice League Unlimited cartoon series, which we are big fans of, a significantly altered version of General Wade Eiling that resembled Marvel character General 'Thunderbolt' Ross. In the series he works very closely with Cadmus Chief Amanda Waller.
General Eiling also had an action figure made from the series. You should all know by now that we collect these, check out the entire Justice League Unlimited Checklist.

Vibe on New Flash TV Series

No it's not the feeling everyone is showing in anticipation of the new series it is an actual character that will appear on the show. Vibe, whose real name is Paco Ramon has already made a guest appearance on Arrow.
 So like we did with Plastique previously, we will take a look at Vibes history in comics and other media so you can go out and hunt down some of his appearances.

Vibe was created by Gene Conway and Chuck Patton, he made his first appearance in Justice League of America Annual #2  which was released in October 1984. I recently picked up a copy in a dollar bin at a local comic convention, well worth it.

First Appearance

Paco Ramon's career as the superhero Vibe began shortly after the original Justice League of America was  disbanded by Aquaman. When Paco heard that a new Justice League was being formed in his own hometown of Detroit, he decided to give up his position as the leader of a local street gang, Los Lobos, to join up. Vibe made the team as a result of his metahuman ability to emit powerful vibratory shock waves.

About Vibe
Vibe placement on the new Justice was put into question early on when his actions resulted in the league fighting a street gang. He would prove himself valuable during many battles including defeating Despero during the Crisis of Infinite Earths.  Vibe was killed after an attack by Professor Ivo's androids during the Legends story-line. The  Martian Manhunter brought Vibe's body back to the League's mountain sanctuary, where Vibe was laid to rest in a cryogenic chamber. However, Paco's dead form was resurrected as a member of the Black Lantern Corps.

Vibe was brought back to life as part of the New 52 and again was a member of the Justice League.

Vibe also made a number of appearances on the Justice League Unlimited cartoon and was part of the toy line. If you have read any of our older posts you know how much we like the JLU line, we have been hunting for a Vibe figure.

So now that you know about Vibe go out and pick up JLA Annual #2 and the 10 issues of his solo comic, which came out in 2013. What are you waiting for?

Rainbow Raider - DC Comics most colorful Villain

With the new Flash television show set to premier in a month I wanted to start suggesting some characters that I would like to see appear on the show. Many characters have been announced already and we will look at those as well.

Okay so I am a big Flash fan and a big fan of the Rogues Gallery. I will be spending some blog space discussing some of the rogues both well known and otherwise. I also collect commissioned art of the rogues, hoping on day to have all of them in some form or another. Plus custom figures of those that have never been made like the Rainbow Raider.
